Gardaí in Dublin have arrested a 34-year-old man in connection with the murder of Mr Anthony Jordan, who was found dead in a flat in Ballymun on Tuesday evening.
The man was arrested in the Ballymun area of north Dublin at lunchtime yesterday and detained by gardaí under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act.
It is thought Mr Jordan was dead for several days before his body was discovered by gardaí at midday on Tuesday following a 999 call. The caller was identified by detectives earlier yesterday.
Gardaí made contact with the victim's family yesterday but it is believed he was living alone at the time of his death.
A post-mortem examination revealed that Mr Jordan (54), of Balbutcher Lane, Ballymun, died from head injuries.
No murder weapon has been found yet.
Anyone with information which may assist the investigation is asked to contact Ballymun Garda station at 01-666-4411.
