The microphone used by “Lord Haw-Haw” William Joyce to broadcast German propaganda during the second World War was sold at auction yesterday at double its estimated value.
A collector paid £8,000 for the microphone and papers belonging to the Nazi propagandist who was hanged in Wandsworth prison in January 1946. The microphone used by US-born Joyce, who was educated in Galway, was discovered recently with a pile of scripts.
