A garda was treated in hospital in Limerick yesterday following injuries he received following an early morning attack in the Dublin Road area of the city.
It is understood the officer suffered head and facial injuries at around 1 a.m. while chasing a suspect on foot near Chawke's Garage.
He was taken to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and was said to be in a stable condition.
In a separate incident, gardaí in Limerick say they believe a man arrested in the city early yesterday morning has links to dissident republicans. The man, believed to be in his 30s, was arrested shortly before 3 a.m. on Sexton Street after he was found to be in possession of a revolver and a knife.
