Leinster 4-09 Connacht 2-12

Leinster defeated Connacht to claim the Railway Cup hurling title this afternoon, at the Giulio Onesti sports grounds in Rome.

A strong second half display from Leinster, on the converted rugby pitch, was enough to wrest control of the game from the Westerners, in a clash watched by 1,000 people. Today's game was the first occasion on which a national GAA final was held on the European Continent.

A brace of goals from Henry Shefflin, and one apiece from John Hoyne and Rory Hanniffy, sealed victory for Leinster.
