Kilkenny star Tommy Walsh has given his county a huge confidence boost ahead of tomorrow's All-Ireland hurling final with Cork by passing a fitness test late last night.

Manager Brian Cody left a vacancy in the half-forwards when he named his team during the week so that Walsh would have every opportunity to get over the hip injury that has limited his training over the last fortnight.

But the 20-year-old star showed no negative signs at last night's examination and will take his place at Croke Park tomorrow as Kilkenny bid to win back-to-back titles.
