Kilkee beach in west Clare will be significantly more accessible for people with disabilities from this weekend.
The Kilrush-based Brothers of Charity have acquired a Deming beach wheelchair, which was designed in the United States with beach usage in mind.
It was purchased with the help of funds raised by Kilkee residents Kate Duff and Deirdre Carmody, who ran the 2010 Cork City Marathon.
“It is planned that the chair will be available for the peak summer season on the strand at Kilkee,” said Brothers of Charity west Clare services manager Pat Lillis.
