Head coach Brian Kidd and assistant manager Eddie Gray are to leave Leeds United following a shake-up of the club's backroom staff.
The pair have been issued with 12 months' notice apiece "due to financial circumstances," according to club manager Peter Reid, who has just been appointed fulltime boss at the club.
A Leeds spokesman this morning confirmed that Kidd and Gray had left Elland Road after an agreement was reached to pay up the remainder of their contracts.
"Due to the financial situation at the club tough decisions have to be made, and it's not possible to find an alternative role for Eddie or Brian," Reid told the club's website.
"This is one of the worst aspects of being a manager. I wish them both well in the future but I feel changes have to be made if the club is to progress in the way I want it to," he said.
Reid refused to speculate on possible replacements for the pair, only stating that he intends to take his time in re-assembling a backroom team.
Kidd had served as Alex Ferguson's assistant at Manchester United for several years before quitting the club to become Blackburn manager in December 1998. Following an unhappy spell there he was recruited the following year by then Leeds boss David O'Leary.
Assistant manager Gray has been at Elland Road since 1995, and worked as second in command to O'Leary during the Irishman's tenure at the club.
