Republic of Ireland manager Brian Kerr has called Celtic's Liam Miller and Nottingham Forest's Andy Reid into the senior squad for the friendly against Canada later this month.

Both players have been produced outstanding performances for their respective clubs this season and are seen as having bright international futures as Kerr begins the rebuilding process having failed to qualify for Portugal.

Reid was named First Division player of the month just yesterday and has caught the Ireland manager's eye despite his club side's indifferent form. The 21-year-old has netted eight goals from midfield and is well-known to Kerr who managed the Dubliner at underage level.

The call-up to the senior squad is more good news for Miller who is ready to sign a new contract with the Glasgow club. The 22-year-old netted a superb goal in his side's Champions League victory over Anderlecht on Wednesday.

Kerr has also rewarded the fine form of Cardiff City's Graham Kavanagh in a revamped midfield selection with Mark Kinsella and Lee Carsley among the players making way.

Kenny Cunningham is in line to captain the side against the Canadians on November 18th having missed the final Euro 2004 qualifier in Switzerland through suspension.
