Italy are considering moving their Six Nations opener against world champions England next year to the Italian capital's Olympic Stadium, according to a reports.
The match, which takes place on February 15th, will be England's first competitive outing after winning the World Cup in Australia last Saturday and would usually be held at the 30,000 capacity Stadio Flaminio.
But with 20,000 English fans expected to attend February's match, the Italian Rugby Federation (FIR) is looking into the possibility of switching to the nearby Olympic Stadium, which can hold more than 80,000 spectators, according to the Corriere dello Sporttoday.
The Olympic Stadium is home to Rome's two top soccer clubs, AS Roma and Lazio, and the latter are scheduled to play Empoli in Serie A on February 15th.
But the president of the Italian Football League, Adriano Galliani, told the sports daily that he thought the game could be moved to accommodate the rugby. "We'll do all we can," he said.
