Israeli army forces have entered a Palestinian-controlled area in the southern Gaza Strip this morning after an army post was attacked with a bomb.
There were no reported casualties in the attack.
The incursion was confirmed by Palestinian security sources, who said tanks and bulldozers entered the Deir el-Ballah area, near the Jewish settlement of Kfar Darom, and sealed off a road following an attack on an Israeli military vehicle.
The Israeli army said the attackers had apparently fled in a car, and that the area had been sealed off and a search for them was under way.
Overnight, the army said Palestinians had fired a mortar bomb on a Jewish settlement in the northern Gaza Strip, without causing casualties.
At the same time, Palestinian gunmen reportedly fired on Israeli troops near the settlement of Neve Dekalim, in the southern Gaza Strip, also with no reports of casualties.
Separately, a Palestinian security source said a man (18) was seriously wounded in the head by Israel army gunfire near the Jewish settlement of Gush Katif.
