An Irish tourist was found dead at dawn today in the swimming pool of his hotel in the Ayia Napa resort in south Cyprus.
Police identified the man as James Frank (23) and said a post-mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death. They said foul play was not suspected.
A spokeswoman for the Department of Foreign Affairs said: "We are aware of the case and we are providing all possible assistance to the family through our embassy in Cyprus".
She would not confirm the man's identity, stating that it was policy not to discuss the personal details of individuals in consular cases. However, she said reports that the man was from Dublin were not true.
