Police in the North "are growing increasingly concerned" about the whereabouts of a Co Armagh man who was last seen last Sunday.

Police are asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of Mr Gareth O'Connor (24) or who have seen his Blue Volkswagon Golf car.

The public appeal follows last night's denial by the IRA that they were responsible for Mr O'Connor's supposed abduction.

He has not been seen since he left his home in the city to report to gardaí in Dundalk under the terms of his bail conditions. When the father-of-two failed to arrive, his family immediately voiced concerns that he had been abducted by the IRA.

With no news despite an appeal for information by the Catholic primate, Archbishop Sean Brady, she said: "I am starting to fear the worst because we have had absolutely no contact from anyone."
