The Fitzwilliam Hotel is to donate to charity three paintings that were at the centre of a trial involving chef Mr Conrad Gallagher.
The hotel was granted ownership of the Felim Egan paintings yesterday when Mr Gallagher dropped his claim of them in Dublin District Court.
Mr Gallagher began a legal battle in July to claim ownership of the paintings that he was accused of stealing. He was later cleared of the charge.
The abstract paintings, worth €10,900, were on display in the Fitzwilliam Hotel on St Stephen's Green and were seized by gardaí when the investigation into Mr Gallagher began in 2000.
A spokesman for the Fitzwilliam Hotel said the paintings were being donated to the World Mercy Fund, and it is expected the charity will auction the abstract paintings at a fundraising function in Dublin.
