Gardaí believe a man whose body was found on a roadside in Co Cavan early yesterday was probably the victim of a hit-and-run accident.
The body of Mr Gerard McCaffrey (43), from Shercock, was found on a road close to his home at about 1.20 a.m.
The scene was sealed off and preserved for examination, and a post-mortem was conducted later at Cavan General Hospital by the deputy State pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy.
Gardaí issued an appeal for witnesses to the accident, or for anyone who may have noticed a car with damage to its left side to contact them.
A spokesman said the cause of Mr McCaffrey's death would not be known until the post-mortem was completed, but the indications pointed to a hit-and-run.
Gardaí in Collooney, Co Sligo, meanwhile, are seeking the assistance of the public in tracing two missing teenagers.
Mr Poric Morrison, Bunnafedda, Dromard, and Ms Amy Hannon, Churchview, Collooney, were last seen in their respective homes at about 11.30 p.m. on Sunday. Both are aged 16.
Poric is described as being 6 ft and very thin with shoulder length dyed black hair. He wears two studs in his eyebrows.
Amy is described as being 5 ft 3 in with long, copper coloured hair. She was last seen wearing black trousers with pockets (parachute), a black top and a grim reaper stud in lip.
