A conference tomorrow, Child Neglect: Is My View your View?, will be addressed by Mary Hanafin, the Minister of State with responsibility for children. She will formally launch the research, "Working with cases of child neglect in the NEHB: Developing current systems for effective practice under Children First".
The keynote speaker is Jan Horwath, who will explain her work and recommendations. Other speakers include: Tony Morrison, on motivating families for change; Dr Jane Tresidder, on the paediatrician's contribution to the management of neglect; and Alice Malone, on working with families within the community.
There has been very strong interest in the conference from both the State and voluntary sectors. It takes place at the Nuremore Hotel, Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan.
