Glenn Hoddle has parted company with Tottenham Hotspur, the club has announced this evening.
The Spurs manager had come under increasing pressure in recent weeks, following a poor start to the season for the north Londoners.
The club is currently languishing in the bottom three of the Premier League, following yesterday's 3-1 defeat at the hands of Hoddle's former club, Southampton.
He left the manager's position there in April 2001 to take the helm at Tottenham.
News of the sacking came tonight when a statement from Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was published on the club's website."It is critical that I, and the board, have absolute confidence in the manager to deliver success to the club. Regrettably we do not," he said. The director of football at the club, David Pleat, will cover the manger's role while a successor is sought. Chris Hughton will serve as first-team coach.
