All the furniture and effects from a 19th century house in Tivoli, Co Cork, will be auctioned by Lynes & Lynes in the Vienna Woods Hotel,Glanmire, on September 22nd.
The estate of the late Betty Thompson-Layng is one part of this auction, which will be sold with items from St Luke's Church, Cork.
The Layng family had a glove factory on the South Terrace and the Tivoli residence was virtually undisturbed since the 19th century.
The contents include good Georgian and Victorian furniture, as well as paintings, mirrors, books, atlases and postcards. There are also some lovely old toys including Hornby train sets as well as a collection of clocks.
The Daly Family Collection includes many Georgian furniture items of some interest - a Georgian rent table (€4,000-€6,000), a Sheraton sideboard (€2,500-€5,000) as well as two dining tables, some Chippendale and Georgian card tables , a gentleman's wardrobe and bureau and some pieces made in Cork.
There is also a silver Georgian tea service and a Cork two- handled cup by John Nicholson.
Paintings include some by Raymond Kelleher.
From St Luke's Church there are 16 pews, kneelers, candlesticks, a partner's desk and a dumb waiter. Viewing on Sunday and the Monday morning of the auction.
