The founder of one of the country's most popular fun parks pleaded guilty in Wicklow Circuit Court yesterday to the possession of child pornography.
Peter Morphew (61), Ballylug, Claravale, Rathdrum appeared in court following a raid by gardaí on his home under Operation Amethyst in May 2002.
Morphew, the founder of Wicklow's Clara Lara Fun Park, pleaded guilty to the possession of a shotgun, two rounds of ammunition and to possession of computer hardware containing child pornography at his home in Rathdrum on May 27th, 2002.
Morphew's defence solicitor told the court that a psychiatric report on his client had suggested a certain programme of treatment. On foot of that report the defendant had been referred to a consultant, he said.
Judge Raymond Groarke adjourned the trial to the next sittings of Wicklow Circuit Court. Morphew was remanded on continuing bail to appear before the court on December 2nd next.
