The former British army agent known as Mr Kevin Fulton was today granted leave to apply for a judicial review by the Belfast High Court.

Mr Fulton is understood to be seeking to challenge the decision refusing him a financial settlement package and also the PSNI assessment that his life is not in danger in England. Mr Fulton is currently living in England under an assumed identity.

He was not in court for today's short hearing before Mr Justice Kerr. The hearing was surrounded in secrecy. His application was not on the list of case to be heard.

Mr Fulton from Newry, Co Down, has claimed elements in the PSNI want him dead after revealing many of the IRA's secrets.

Mr Fulton also claims he gave the police information about the 1998 RIRA bomb in Omagh which led to a damning report by Police Ombudsman Ms Nuala O'Loan.

The case is due back in court on September 26th.
