France and Germany say they have have no immediate plans to contribute extra aid for the rebuilding of Iraq, outside of what the European Union has pledged.
"We don't foresee any additional aid at this stage - either in terms of financial aid or in cooperation in the military domain," Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin said.
De Villepin was reiterating France's position ahead of a two-day donors conference for Iraq that starts on Thursday in Spain.
The EU has said it will contribute £180 million next year from its central funds, but the US is hoping to raise billions of dollars in reconstruction aid at the conference.
Germany's development minister also said they had no plans to contribute any more money to rebuilding Iraq beyond the £110 million already committed.
The minister, Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul, cited Germany's budgetary pressures as the reason why Berlin was not prepared to open its coffers any further.
