Dundalk District Court has fined four men for offences relating to the movement of cattle without the required documentation or in contravention of regulations.
Mr Niall Rice (27), a cattle dealer from Lower Faughill Road, Jonesboro, Co Armagh, was fined €15,530 in relation to 22 summons. He was prosecuted on foot of an investigation into the origin of cattle on a holding belonging to Mr John Woods, Tara, Ballymascanlon, Co Louth.
Mr Aidan Kirk (24), Riverstown, Dundalk, was fined €3,025 in relation to three summons while Mr Joseph McGee (55), Charleville, Dunleer, was fined €2,215 in relation to two summons; both men were prosecuted on foot of the investigation by the Department into cattle on Mr Woods's holding.
Mr Conor McAvoy (28) with an address at New Road, Silverbridge, Co Armagh, and at Lurgankeel, Dundalk, was fined €10,090 on foot of 20 summonses relating to 58 cattle he moved from lands his family owned in the Republic on to lands they owned half a mile away in Northern Ireland without complying with the regulations.
