A fire in a block of flats in a Paris suburb killed five people and injured 29 others, French emergency services said today.
The fire took hold shortly before dawn in the stairwell of a public housing estate in Sevran, northeast of Paris. It was not immediately clear what caused the fire.
"It seems that two adults and three children, or adolescents, (died) and 29 people were injured," a fire service spokesman said.
