The father of the IRA killer turned informer, Mr Sean O'Callaghan, will be buried today in his native Co Kerry.
Mr Jack O'Callaghan died on Friday, and his funeral in Tralee today will be a full republican burial, to be addressed by Mr Martin Ferris, one of Sinn Fein's delegates to the Forum for Peace and Reconciliation.
Mr O'Callaghan (78) was a member of his local Sinn Fein cumann in Tralee. He was interned in the Republic in the early 1940s.
He is survived by his sisters, a daughter and two sons.
In a recent interview, Mr O'Callaghan said his son Sean had broken his heart and he voiced his rejection of his son's anti IRA pronouncements.
In an interview last December, Mr Sean O'Callaghan said: "My father now no longer talks to me because I now think that the things I did for the IRA were inexcusable and I have dedicated myself to defeating it."
