Kieren Fallon is just five winners short of completing another double century heading into the first day of the Doncaster St Leger meeting.
The champion jockey rode a double on Shalaya and The Trader at Leicester yesterday to leave the 200-winner mark within reaching distance.
The Trader had to be rousted along by the champion jockey to get into contention in the five-furlong Racecourse Video Services Conditions Stakes, but taking up the running well inside the final furlong, he had a bit more to spare than the official margin of half a length over Manaar.
Shalaya meanwhile got off the mark at the first attempt in the European Breeders Fund Filbert Maiden Stakes, Fallon bringing her with a sustained run to get up close home and beat Veverka by a neck with Cause Celebre a short head away in third.
Mark Johnston sent out his 25th individual two-year-old winner of the season when Gold History, well ridden by in-form Joe Fanning, just got the better of Zerlina and Fallon's mount Lord Mayor in the EBF Rempstone Maiden Stakes.
Fallon reported that he had lost an iron in the closing stages and that it may have cost him second place.
