The Republic of Ireland will meet Canada for the first time next month when the North Americans come to Lansdowne Road for a friendly international.
Brian Kerr's side will take on the Canadians - listed at 83rd in the latest FIFA world rankings - as he begins the rebuilding process following Ireland's failure to qualify for next summer's European Championships in Portugal.
Ireland limped out of the competition after a toothless display against Group 10 winners Switzerland in Basel and Kerr must now assess his options before setting the focus on the next World Cup qualifying campaign.
It is expected the likes of Celtic's Liam Miller and Nottingham Forest midfielder Andy Reid, both prolific scorers from midfield this season, will figure in Kerr's plans while some of the older guard may well have played their last internationals for Ireland.
