The Football Association will view the reports of referee Uriah Rennie andfourth official Jeff Winter before deciding whether to impose any disciplinaryaction on Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Old Trafford boss was sent off 24 minutes into yesterday's 2-1 win overNewcastle St James' Park.
Ferguson reacted angrily to Rennie's decision not to penalise Andy O'Brien fora tackle on Ryan Giggs. He then appeared to mutter obscenities in Winter's direction as he went off down the tunnel.
An FA spokesman said: "As with all weekend games, we will await the matchofficials reports before considering any possible disciplinary action."
Ferguson has already promised to try to curb his temper in future.
"I am aware that the fourth official has been given stricter guidelines thisseason," he told the News of the World.
"I suppose I will have to curb my behaviour in the future. I was really angry about the failure to penalise or red-card Andy O'Brien for the foul on Ryan Giggs and made my feelings known from the bench in a way that I have done many times in the past.
"It was a blatant decision and you expect those sorts of decisions to begiven. I showed my anger to the fourth official. That was why I was sent off."
Ferguson watched the remainder of the game from opposite number Sir BobbyRobson's office as goals from Ruud van Nistelrooy and Paul Scholes gave Unitedvictory.
