Mr Dundon, who escaped from Garda custody in April of last year, was arrested by British police and flown to Cork Airport from Manchester on Tuesday night.

Det Sgt Eamon O'Neill gave evidence yesterday of arresting Mr Dundon at Cork Airport on Tuesday night on foot of two extradition warrants.

Mr Dundon is charged with threatening to kill a prison officer at William Street, Limerick, on December 5th, 2001.

He also faces a charge of threatening to damage the home of another prison officer at Limerick prison on August 21st of that year.

The State applied for Mr Dundon to be returned for trial at the next available sitting of the Circuit Court.

Judge Peter Smithwick ordered that the accused be returned for trial at Limerick Circuit Court on October 7th.

The court heard the issue of bail had previously been dealt with and had already been refused.

At the time of his escape from Garda custody, Mr Dundon also faced in excess of 20 other charges, including possession of a car wheel brace with intent to cause injury and various road traffic offences.
