An explosion was heard near the Afghan Commerce Ministry in Kabul today close to the office of aid agency Save the Children but there were no reports of injuries, peacekeepers said.

"There are no reports of anyone injured," said a spokesman for the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force in Kabul. "There was a Canadian patrol in the area which reported it as being near the Ministry of Commerce."

There was no word on what caused the explosion, but remants of the former Taliban regime and their allies have declared a jihad (holy struggle) against all foreign organisations working in Afghanistan and are routinely blamed for attacks.
