History Lecture at Alexandra CollegeThe annual Ardilaun Lecture in History will take place today at 4pm in, Alexandra College, Dublin 6.

It will be given by Prof John Horne of Trinity College Dublin, who will speak on Democracy Under Pressure: Europe Between the Wars. This is a free public lecture and all are welcome. It will be of particular interest to students taking history for the Leaving Certificate.

Annual Boole Lecture in Informatics

Dr Peter Norvig, director of research at Google, will deliver the annual Boole Lecture in Informatics at UCC on Tuesday, December 15th at 8pm in Boole IV lecture theatre.

The lecture is titled The Unreasonable Effectiveness of Data – How Billions of Trivial Data Points can Lead to Understanding. Admission is free and all are welcome.
