The Department of Education is conducting a quality assurance check on the marking of one examiner for the Leaving Certificate Business paper this year. The check is being conducted on the marking for Leaving Certificate Business, Higher Level 2001.
According to a statement released today, a preliminary re-examination of the work of the students involved was carried out last week, and the Department is now continuing with a detailed analysis of the outcome.
"The Chief Examiner for that subject has been requested by the Department to provide a detailed report and analysis of all the issues in relation to this matter," today’s statement said. "Once the report has been received the Department will be able to comment more fully on the issue."
The statement was issued following reported claims by a secondary school that the results given to students in that subject did not reflect their expectations.
