Mr Colin Duffy was arrested yesterday afternoon in his home town of Lurgan, Co Armagh, less than one week after charges of murder were dropped against him. Mr Duffy, who spent almost four months on remand charged with the murder of Constables David Johnston and John Graham in Lurgan in June, was travelling in his car through the town centre when, according to his wife, Mrs Susan Duffy, a soldier walked out in front of him.

Mrs Duffy alleged the soldiers poked and prodded Mr Duffy. She said her husband got angry when their daughter Caitriona (8), and nephew Sean (2), became hysterical.

Mr Duffy was questioned and later released. The RUC said it was investigating a complaint of assault yesterday afternoon.
