A man and a woman, both in their 30s, were arrested after the cannabis and cocaine were discovered last night.

Gardaí said a van was stopped in Waterford city shortly after 8pm and 60 kg of cannabis resin was found inside. In a follow-up search of a house in the city a quantity of cocaine was seized.

The man and woman are being held under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act at Waterford Garda Station. A spokesman said the total seizure, depending on the results of forensic analysis, may have a street value of up to €500,000
