Donegal profits up, revenues down

Donegal Creameries has announced that its profits before tax and exceptional items for 2002 climbed eight per cent to €5

Donegal Creameries has announced that its profits before tax and exceptional items for 2002 climbed eight per cent to €5.8m.

Despite the rise in profits the dairy saw its revenues fall by just under thre per cent to €135.3m as a result of falling commodity prices in the dairy division.

Operating profits at the group increased by 17 per cent to €5.1m and its earnings per share was up 8.8 per cent to 47.2 cents.

The company said turnover in the dairy division fell 8.3 per cent due to lower commodity dairy prices.
