The Department of Health said today that the woman being treated in an isolation unit in the Mater Hospital is not exhibiting symptoms typical of SARS.
The female patient involved had just returned from Toronto, where there have been 20 deaths from the virus. She is being treated while further tests are done.
A number of striking public health doctors agreed to help investigate the case.
Yesterday the Department of Health lifted its warning against travelling to Toronto.
