A champion dance teacher whose back was injured when her car was allegedly "rear ended" at traffic lights, has had her damages claim for personal injuries remitted to the unlimited jurisdiction of the High Court.

Ms Gerardine Connolly, counsel for Ms Dolores Scully, Weston Park, Lucan, Co Dublin, told the Circuit Civil Court her client's record of success with dancers at national and world class level had deteriorated since the August 1994 accident.

Ms Connolly said medical experts estimated a recovery would take at best 12 to 18 months and as much as three years.

Ms Scully is suing motorist Mr Derek Maher of Hortland, Donadea, Naas, Co Kildare. Mr Maher denies the claim.
