Bohemians were held 1-1 at home by Cork City tonight but manager Stephen Kenny will be delighted with the showing of striker Glen Crowe who made his competitive return to action after missing Ireland's recent Euro 2004 qualifiers with a knee injury.
The Phibsboro club, fresh from a trip to Cyprus during the break for the Special Olympics, started lively and took the lead after seven minutes. Crowe raced through the Cork defence to collect Neil Horgan's poor back header and finished cleverly from the left side of the area.
But Pat Dolan's Cork side soon adjusted to the pace of the game and equalised when the league's top scorer John O'Flynn bagged his tenth of the season 15 minutes before the break. O'Flynn beat Bohemians keeper Matt Gregg with a low strike following good work from Horgan and George O'Callaghan.
At Richmond Park, St. Patrick's Athletic moved third in the table following a comprehensive 3-1 victory over Waterford United. First half strikes from Tony Bird and Colm Foley gave the home side a comfortable half-time lead. A brace from David Freeman in the second period (60th & 81st minutes) settled matters while Daryl Murphy snatched a scrappy consolation strike for the visitors.
