Rock star and actress Courtney Love was admitted to hospital with a suspected drug overdose yesterday following her arrest for allegedly smashing windows at a friend's Los Angeles home.

Police responding to a burglary call found Love (39) standing outside the house and she admitted having broken four windows in an attempt to enter, a police spokesman told the
Los Angeles Times

She was booked on an allegation of being under the influence of a controlled substance and released.
Less than an hour later, when Beverly Hills police and paramedics responded to a call for help at a private residence, Love was found at the house and taken to a hospital for treatment.
Love is the founder of the influential band Hole, and is the widow of rock star Kurt Cobain.
In April 1994, she was arrested at the Beverly Hills Peninsula Hotel after hotel officials called police to report that they believed one of their guests had overdosed.
Love was treated in hospital but was not charged. Shortly after the incident, she entered a drug rehabilitation centre. She left when she learned that Cobain, of the rock group Nirvana, had committed suicide.
