Darren Clarke has taken on a fitness coach to try to break back into the world'stop 10.

Weighing in at around 108kg, the burly Northern Irishman, who smokes cigars, is hoping a former rugby league international can kick him into shape and guide him to greater heights.

"He's here this week and his name is Steve Hampson, who played for Great Britain between 1988 and 1993," said Clarke, who climbed to 13th in the rankings following his win at the WGC-NEC Invitational in Akron, Ohio, last month.

"He is my personal trainer and will travel with me. He's worked with a lot of people, primarily Andrew Flintoff, the England cricketer. He got him in good shape so I hope he can do the same with me.
