The Central Bank this morning issued a warning notice that two companies are operating as unauthorised investment business firms in Ireland.
The notice identifies Gerson Lehmann, Inc (Thailand), which has been recommending the purchase of shares; and Crown Capital Management Corporation (Bahamas), which has been offering to purchase shares.
"It is a criminal offence for an investment firm to operate in Ireland unless it has an authorisation from the Central Bank and clients of unauthorised firms are not eligible for compensation from the Investor Compensation scheme," warned the Bank.
