The celebrity chef, Mr Conrad Gallagher, has been granted bail after a sitting of the High Court in Clover Hill Prison today.
It is understood that Mr Gallagher will be able to leave the prison once his passport has been surrendered to the court. Bail is believed to have been set in the region of €30,000.
Mr Gallagher was remanded in custody to Clover Hill last week after his return from the United States on charges relating to the alleged theft of three paintings from his former restaurant in the Fitzwilliam Hotel in Dublin.
He had failed to turn up at his trial in October last year and a warrant was issued for his arrest the following month.
Mr Gallagher was arrested outside his bar in Manhattan in April and was held on an extradition warrant at the Metropolitian Detention Centre, before being brought back to Ireland last week.
He is due before Dublin Circuit Criminal Court tomorrow when a date for his trial is expected to be set.
