CHARGES against a Cork doctor of attempting to defraud a pharmacist and of having ammunition were struck out at Cork District Court yesterday when the State said it would not offer evidence.

Dr James Barry, of Farranlea Grove, Bishopstown, Cork, was charged that on May 29th last year, at Falvey's pharmacy, of Bridge Street, Cork, he obtained 36 Septrin tablets from Mr Gerard Falvey, a pharmacist, with intent to defraud. The tablets were valued at £5.85. It was also alleged that on June 6th, 1995, he handled stolen property the tablets knowing it to be stolen.

Dr Barry was further charged with having 45 rounds of 8mm blank ammunition on June 6th last year.

When the matter was raised before Judge Uinsin Mac Gruairc, the State solicitor for Cork, Mr Barry Galvin, said no evidence would be offered against Dr Barry. The charges were struck out.
