Kinshasa - A fresh power cut hit the Democratic Republic of the Congo capital yesterday after President Laurent Kabila left the city again, apparently to seek help from Angola to defeat his Rwandan-backed rebel foes.
It was unclear whether the power cut, less than a week after a 20-hour-long outage paralysed Kinshasa and neighbouring Brazzaville, was caused by technical problems or by rebels holding the giant Inga hydroelectric dam.
A government official said Mr Kabila, who returned to Kinshasa on Sunday after talks in Luanda, the Angolan capital, with President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, left early yesterday for talks in Zimbabwe with the defence ministers of Angola, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
