Some 1,000 people gathered in Keady, Co Armagh, on Saturday afternoon in a bid to save the town's old folks' home. They applauded as the SDLP deputy leader, Mr Seamus Mallon, accused "faceless people" on Armagh and Dungannon HSS Trust of making decisions as an accountancy exercise and not based on humanitarian grounds.
The Friends of Annvale House organised the march which made its way through the south Armagh Border town to the square. There speakers pledged to fight the trust's decision.
Mr Mallon, the MP for the area, shared the platform with unionist MEP Mr Jim Nicholson, and with local councillors Mr Tommy Kavanagh (SDLP); Mr Brian Cunningham (Sinn Fein); and Ms Evelyn Corry (unionist).
