SCHALKE 04 0 VFL BOCHUM 2
Schalke lost their first home match of the season despite outplaying their Ruhr River Valley rivals Bochum for much of the match.
Bochum scored twice in the second half with their first shots on goal to hold on to sixth place on 15 points, seven points behind Bayer Leverkusen and three behind fifth-placed Bayern Munich.
KAISERSLAUTERN 4 HAMBURG SV 0
Germany striker Miroslav Klose scored two second-half goals, including a controversial penalty, while Lucia Mettomo and Christian Timm added one each to lift Kaiserslautern up two places to 11th.
The win took some pressure off coach Erik Gerets, but speculation Hamburg coach Kurt Jara would be sacked increased.
Hamburg, in 13th place, have not won an away match since November 2002 and were knocked out in the first round of the UEFA Cup last week.
VFL WOLFSBURG 3 HANSA ROSTOCK 1
Argentine striker Diego Klimowicz's sixth goal of season and two dazzling goals by Brazilian Fernando Baiano sent Rostock to their fifth consecutive defeat.
Wolfsburg moved up two places to sixth in the table.
BORUSSIA MOENCHENGLADBACH 0 BAYERN MUNICH 0
Defending champions Bayern slipped into fifth place, four points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen, with their third draw in nine matches, an inauspicious warmup before Tuesday's Champions League match at Olympique Lyon.
Bayern were outplayed for much of the match and were lucky to get a point.
HERTHA BERLIN 1 BAYER LEVERKUSEN 4
Leverkusen had little trouble with winless Hertha's weak defence on the way to their seventh win in nine matches which lifted the team back into first place.
Speculation grew in the German capital that Hertha trainer Huub Stevens would be sacked as his talent-filled team, who had hoped for a top-three finish, are now in last place.
WERDER BREMEN 1 VFB STUTTGART 3
Stuttgart won the battle pitting the Bundesliga's top defence against Bremen's league-leading attack.
Stuttgart's goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand gave up his first goal of the season after a record 885 scoreless minutes dating back to last season. He passed Oliver Kahn's 802-minute league clean-sheet record two weeks ago.
COLOGNE 1 SC FREIBURG 0
Cologne's defender Mustafa Dogan scored in the 70th minute as the home side recorded only their second win of the season. The victory gave coach Friedhelm Funkel a reprieve after speculation that he would be sacked following several recent dismal outings by his promoted side.
TSV 1860 MUNICH 1 EINTRACHT FRANKFURT 0
Germany striker Benjamin Lauth scored a penalty in the 90th minute to give Munich a badly needed win after three successive defeats.
It also ended a long dry run for Lauth dating back to May 3rd. Frankfurt are winless in the last four matches and are in 17th place.
BORUSSIA DORTMUND 6 HANOVER 96 2
After scoring just 13 times in their first eight matches, Dortmund erupted for six goals against Hanover to the delight of the 80,500 home crowd, putting an end to a disappointing run that included being ousted from the Champions League and sub-par Bundesliga and UEFA Cup showings.
Ewerthon and Jan Koller each scored twice while Lars Ricken, who also scored a goal, had a superb match.
