A youth (17) appeared at Cork District court today charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in Blarney at the weekend.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on Saturday following the death Shannon Ruby (30) from Youghal.
He was charged today with intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to Shannon Ruby at Ard na Greine, Blarney, Co Cork on September 26th.
The court heard the youth made no reply when charged. Garda Alan Johnson also said the State was objecting to bail due to the seriousness of the offence and the strength of evidence in the case.
The court heard more serious charges could be considered in the coming weeks or months.
Judge Uinsin MacGruairc refused bail in the case and remanded the youth to St Patrick’s Detention Centre. He will appear before Cork District Court again on October 2nd.
