AJACCIO, Corsica - Bombers blew up government buildings in three simultaneous attacks yesterday on the troubled French Mediterranean island of Corsica as islanders took part in the elections, police said.
There was no immediate claim for the explosions, which occurred around 1:00 p.m., but they were suspected to be the work of the separatist movement FLNC (Corsican National Liberation Front).
In Bastia, a bomb caused the floor of a government building to collapse. In the island's capital, Ajaccio, an explosion blew out all the windows of another administrative building in the centre of the city. There was another blast in Porticcio, on the bay of Ajaccio. No one was hurt in any of the attacks.
