Birmingham City today reached agreement with Chelsea to keep on-loan striker Mikael Forssell at St Andrews until the end of the season.
Forssell initially joined City until January but the two clubs have acted today following speculation linking Forssell with a number of other clubs.
Bruce said: "We've spoken to Chelsea again and the agreement now is that Mikael is with us for the rest of the season. We've shaken hands on it.
"There is no danger of him going anywhere else in the transfer window and we are delighted he will be with us until the end of the season."
"Obviously, if Chelsea suffer a spate of injuries upfront then things may change but that is the same with any loan deal. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Mikael is with us until May."
Meanwhile, Forssell's clubmate Christophe Dugarry will miss Saturday's home clash with Arsenal with a knee injury suffered at Wolves a fortnight ago.
