An explosion in a crowded market north of Baghdad killed at least five people and wounded seven today, according to police.
The bomb was planted on a motorcycle and exploded in the town of Khalis, 80 km north of Baghdad, police said. The death toll may rise, they added.
Violence has dropped sharply in Iraq over the last year, and attacks on US soldiers and Iraqi civilians in October hit their lowest levels since the beginning of the war in 2003.
However, car bombs, roadside explosions and other violence still rock Iraq on a daily basis.
