Bayern say keeper Kahn staying put

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says goalkeeper and captain Oliver Kahn will stay with the German champions.

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says goalkeeper and captain Oliver Kahn will stay with the German champions.

Kahn has said he was considering a move abroad, and media reports have linked him to several clubs including English Premier League champions Manchester United.

But Rummenigge said the 33-year-old had a contract for another three years and was not for sale.

Rummenigge told the Abendzeitung Munich daily: "Even if we had 15 offers for him, we would not let him go." Kahn, who has been at Bayern since 1994, said this month that he might leave Germany for a new challenge abroad.

Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld said in March he was worried his captain might leave if he continued to face pressure from the media over his personal life.

Kahn made headlines in Germany for weeks after admitting he had betrayed his pregnant wife by having an affair with a barmaid.

The Bayern bosses have said they wanted Kahn to end his playing career at the club before moving upstairs, possibly as commercial manager.
