Assault conviction in Carlow case

A 27-year old man was convicted last night of assault and endangerment in an incident in which a woman died from stab wounds. The jury failed to agree a verdict on a charge of manslaughter.

Dermot Lennon, of Riverside, Carlow was found guilty of endangerment in that he intentionally or recklessly stabbed Ms Dearbhla Keating (28) with a knife at Riverside, Carlow on November 19th last year. He was also found guilty of assaulting Mr Alan Walsh. Lennon was charged with the manslaughter of Ms Keating but the jury could not agree a verdict on this charge. Lennon was remanded in custody for sentencing next Friday.
